Fresh and Frozen PBMCs
All our PBMCs are processed by Ficoll density gradient centrifugation and characterised (and then frozen if applicable) within 5 hours blood donation, to ensure optimal cell viability and functionality. This makes them ideal for use in cell -based assays that require high efficacy of cells with minimal variability.
Our fresh PBMCs are processed from a desired volume of blood, and then delivered on the same day as collection and processing in the UK (location dependent), or next day after collection across Europe.

Benefits of our fresh PBMCs
- Processed within 5 hours of blood collection for minimal degradation
- Cell viability of >95%
- Large and varied donor pool
- PBMCs batch-tested negative for bacteria and mycoplasma by PCR
Choice of volume of blood, age, sex, and other factors - Comprehensive donor information provided
Donors pre-screened for HIV, HBV, HCV, Syphilis
Samples fully consented including for genetic analysis and commercial research purposes - Specific donor/protocol requests accommodated
- Fresh PBMCs can be delivered chilled or at ambient temperature
Our frozen PBMCs are processed, characterised and then frozen at -80°C in Cryostor CS10 cryopreservation medium within 5 hours of blood donation. We have a large inventory of frozen stock PBMCs available in 3 sizes; 10 million, 25 million and 250 million PBMCs per vial. Frozen PBMCs are delivered in dry ice in the UK and across Europe
Benefits of our frozen PBMCs
- Processed and frozen within 5 hours of blood collection for optimal cell recovery and performance
- Cell viability of >90%
- Large inventory of PBMCs from diverse donor base
- PBMCs batch-tested negative for bacteria and mycoplasma by PCR
- Comprehensive donor information provided
- Donors pre-screened for HIV, HBV, HCV, Syphilis as a minimum
- Samples fully consented including for genetic analysis and commercial research purposes
